A: Both are made from rapidly solidified alloys. Amorphous cores have a completely non-crystalline atomic structure. Nanocrystalline cores are produced by a controlled heat treatment (annealing) of the amorphous ribbon, which forms tiny crystals (10-20 nm) within the amorphous matrix. This results in even higher permeability and lower losses for nanocrystalline cores, suitable for high-precision applications.
