ECIA September 2025 ECST survey index: overall 118.2, electromechanical 130.3, passive up 2.2, semiconductor 105.9

According to the latest Electronic Component Sales Trend (ECST) survey released by the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA), the electronic component sales confidence index remained in expansion territory above the 100-point threshold for the fourth consecutive month in September 2025, reaching an overall score of 118.2. Among all categories, electromechanical components recorded the strongest growth, passive components posted moderate gains, and semiconductors experienced a slight decline while remaining firmly within the expansion zone.

As a technology-driven company specializing in magnetic components, Shinhom closely monitors authoritative industry indicators such as those published by ECIA. The report's electromechanical and passive component categories directly correspond to Shinhom's core product portfolio-including inductors, current sensors, transformers, and magnetic cores. The sustained improvement in market confidence closely aligns with trends observed across our own business operations.

September Highlights: Strong Growth in Electromechanical Components, Steady Gains in Passive Components

The September 2025 ECST survey revealed several notable developments:

  • The Electromechanical Component Confidence Index surged from 115.0 to 130.3, becoming the primary driver behind the overall market increase.
  • Passive components recorded a modest gain of 2.2 points, maintaining a stable upward trajectory.
  • The Semiconductor Index declined slightly from 107.7 to 105.9, but remained above the 100-point expansion threshold.

October Outlook

The confidence indices for the three major component categories are expected to converge, with all categories projected to remain near 118.3 points. The forecast gap between active components (semiconductors) and passive components (electromechanical and passive devices combined) is only 1.5 points, suggesting that the market recovery is becoming increasingly balanced across sectors.

End-Market Conditions Continue to Improve as Consumer Electronics Expectations Recover

All end-market categories remained above the 100-point level in September, indicating continued expansion.

Although the current consumer electronics index remains relatively weak, expectations for October show a significant improvement, with the index projected to rise to 93.8, approaching expansion territory.

Meanwhile, industrial, automotive, and communications markets continued to demonstrate stable growth.

Year-over-year data further supports the positive trend. From June through September 2025, the average year-over-year index for both components and end markets consistently exceeded 140 points, indicating a substantial improvement compared with the same period last year.

Shinhom's Strategic Response and Product Portfolio

The ECIA report reinforces the positive outlook for electromechanical and passive component markets. In response, Shinhom remains focused on key product categories that support customers throughout the power electronics industry:

Designed for high-frequency EMI filtering, these products offer compact dimensions and excellent stability across wide temperature ranges. They have already been deployed in volume production for onboard chargers (OBCs) and photovoltaic inverters.

Providing comprehensive coverage from consumer electronics applications to industrial power systems across a broad range of power levels.

Delivering high-accuracy sensing solutions for precision control, monitoring, and protection systems.

We believe that as market confidence continues to strengthen, demand for high-performance magnetic components will continue to expand.

Market Outlook and Industry Perspective

According to ECIA analysts, overall component sales trends are expected to remain positive throughout the fourth quarter of 2025 and continue into 2026.Shinhom will continue to monitor authoritative industry indicators such as the ECST survey and leverage its four major manufacturing bases in Xi'an, Weinan, Jinan, and Shenzhen to provide customers with stable, reliable, and fully traceable magnetic component supply solutions.
