Product Introduction

product-800-800Air core RF inductors feature a coreless air-wound design that completely eliminates core losses, delivering an ultra-high Q factor and exceptionally low high-frequency loss. This makes them ideal for narrowband RF amplifier matching, impedance matching networks, and tuning circuits in high-frequency applications. The inductors feature flat top and bottom surfaces for reliable automated surface-mount assembly. High-reliability versions are also available for demanding applications in the aerospace, defense, and other mission-critical industries.

FAQ

Q: What are the advantages of an air-core inductor over a magnetic-core inductor?

A: Air-core inductors eliminate core losses, resulting in a higher Q factor and lower high-frequency loss. They are ideal for RF amplifier matching networks, impedance matching, and narrowband tuning circuits. Their primary limitation is a relatively low inductance value, making them best suited for nanohenry (nH)-level applications.

Q: What is the difference between the SMAR0806 and SMAR1515 Series?

A: The SMAR0806, SMAR0807, and SMAR0908 Series offer an inductance range of 5.5 nH to 27.3 nH in compact package sizes, making them suitable for space-constrained RF designs. The SMAR1515 Series provides inductance values from 47 nH to 82 nH and achieves a Q factor of up to 230, making it ideal for high-performance RF applications that require superior efficiency and signal quality.

Q: What frequency range are air-core RF inductors designed for?

A: Air-core RF inductors are designed for high-frequency RF circuits, with typical operating frequencies ranging from tens of MHz to several  GHz. The actual usable frequency depends on the inductance value and the self-resonant frequency (SRF) of the selected inductor.
