Balun Transformer,There are several types of Balun, some of which are used for impedance conversion and others for connecting transmission lines with different impedances.
Balun is used in push-pull amplifiers, wideband antennas, balanced mixers, balanced frequency doublers and modulators, phase shifters, and any circuit design that requires equal amplitude transmission over two lines with a phase difference of 180 degrees. The most common use of Balun is to connect unbalanced signals to balanced transmission lines used for long-distance transmission.
Differential signaling using balanced transmission lines is less susceptible to noise and crosstalk, can use lower voltages, and is more cost effective than single-ended signaling using coaxial cables. Thus, Balun can be used as an interface between local video, audio and digital signals and long-distance transmission lines.
